Stellar Award winner James Fortune and Grammy Award R&B songstress Monica collaborate again after their single “Hold On” in 2012 with their new single “Trusting God” (2023). This song inspires and motivates those who are having a hard time. Their 2012 hit with Fred Hammond was a Grammy-nominated song. Hopefully, this new collaboration will bring in another Grammy win.
“Trusting God” was released on March 3rd. Produced by DLo and Directed by Drae Rudolph, this melodic track was distributed by MNRK Music Group. The song talks about James Fortune’s latest album “My Life” which was nominated for Outstanding Gospel Christian Album at the 54th annual NAACP Image Awards. According to an interview with VIBE, James Fortune said, “I wasn’t necessarily writing it as a song for others I was writing from my own experience. I didn’t have the answers and my faith was really being tested. So all I kept saying is ‘I’m just out here trusting God.’ I got with my producer D Lo to produce the track and called one of my lead singers Minon Bolton to demo the vocals for me. I sent Monica the demo and she said, ‘This the one; the world needs this song right now.'”
