On May, 23rd, Kevin Hart opened the third location of his plant-based fast-food restaurant, Hart House at 6800 West Sunset Boulevard, dubbed Hart House Hollywood. Their menu of burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, and milkshakes is promised to contain no cholesterol, additives, trans fat, or preservatives. Their meat is their recipe of “proprietary proteins” Hart House wrote in a comment on their Instagram page. The prices for burgers range from $5.99 to $7.99 according to Eater LA.
The location has 2,130 sqft space with 24 interior seats, 16 outdoor seats, and ADA accessibility. This is also the first time a Hart House has a drive-thru. The location takes over a former McDonald’s lot and is right next door to a Chik-fil-a location. This is not the first Hart House in LA either, in August 2022 Hart opened a location in the Westchester neighborhood, five minutes from LAX and near an In-N-Out. Hart House is asserting itself as a vegan alternative to established fast-food restaurants. Not only that gaining traction through two locations known for attracting both local and out-of-city customers.
Kevin Hart also made sure to spread the brand. Hart hosted a VIP sneak peek to celebrate two weeks before the opening. The celebration included food from Hart House and several games and activities such as mini golf, a live DJ, a human claw game, and building plush buddy bears.
Attendees included actor, comedian, and founder of Hart House Kevin Hart, TikTok food reviewer Keith Lee, film director Tim Story, chef and television star Nyesha Arrington, writer and comedian Fortune Feimster, stand-up comedian Mohammed Amer, TikToker Courtney Parchman, and Vice President of Creators and Marketing at Playboy Loren Piretra.
Earlier on March 6th, Hart asked Keith Lee to review the food before the opening on TikTok. Lee ordered a chicken sandwich and was surprised at the taste, saying it did not taste vegan at all. He also noted the cost, “Vegan food on Sunset Boulevard in California has to be crazy expensive. They put this meal in front of me under $15,” Lee said.
The comments on his TikTok post echoed Lee’s surprise at the price. There was also demand both in Lee’s comments and the Hart House Instagram comments asking for more locations in places like NYC and Miami. Kevin Hart is not relying on his celebrity name alone, he is working within the network of foodies online and offline. While the opening date for a fourth restaurant near USC has not been announced. Hart House seems to look to become the new popular burger spot for young people.
