( ENSPIRE Music ) Olivia Rodrigo Reveals Release Date and Plans for New Single “Vampire”

Chart-topping star Olivia Rodrigo is making a comeback two years after releasing her record-breaking debut album “Sour.” Rodrigo first gained popularity after staring in Disney’s Bizaardvark and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. After dropping her first single “Driver’s License”, Rodrigo became a household name overnight. “Driver’s License” broke records with 460 million streams and over 122 million music video views. Now, two years later, Rodrigo is ready to take the music industry by storm again.
On June 13th, the 20-year-old star took to Instagram to announce her new upcoming single, “Vampire.” Rodrigo posted a black and white side profile shot, wearing dark lipstick and bold eyeliner with purple bandaids on her neck. She captions her photo, “my new song Vampire is out June 30th! You can pre-save now. so excited for this ahhhhh!!!!!!!” Fans suspect this picture could be the next album cover. The photo is said to be alluding to the 1968 vampire film Dracula Has Risen from the Grave. The single will be released on CD and vinyl.
Written alongside Rodrigo’s longtime co-writer Daniel Nigro, fans expect “Vampire” to be a more edgy and bold track. Nigro has collaborated with Rodrigo on her entire “Sour” album, which won her 70 different music awards, including Grammys, American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and iHeartRadio Music Awards. In relation to future music, Rodrigo says she is not as sad as she was during the writing process for “Sour” and says, “I’m so excited to make my next record and explore more colors and textures and feelings and grow as a human being even more. I’m really stoked for that.”
Always leaving clues for her fans, Olivia created the Sour Heartbreak Hotline as a method of teasing her new projects to her listeners. Callers have noticed that the 15-second tone has changed to what is believed to be a snippet of Rodrigo’s new single “Vampire.” The new tone is a smooth piano ballad. Continuing to tease fans, Rodrigo and collaborator Nigro have been posting across social media in recent weeks. Nigro posted a photo of a drink named “Vampire Juice” on his Instagram Story on June 15th. On June 20th, the “Driver’s License” singer shared a post to her Instagram feed with, “How do you lie?” written three times, cluing fans into potential lyrics for the new track.
Rodrigo’s ever-growing fanbase is counting down the days until she releases “Vampire.” Fans can’t wait to see Olivia embrace the “new chapter” she has been teasing her fans with. Much is expected of this release because her previous album took home 3 Grammys; Best Pop Solo Performance for her song “Driver’s License,” Best Pop Vocal Album for her album “Sour,” and Best New Artist. As the young artist continues teasing fans on social media, the excitement only continues to grow as fans have no doubt Olivia will deliver.
