NBA All-Star and now producer Anthony Davis created the film “Finding Tony.” With the help of director  Raven Magwood Goodson and producer Billy Goodson, “Finding Tony” became an emotional journey covering mental issues and youth development. Anthony Davis hosted a private film screening at Imax Theater in Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites during All-Star Weekend 2024. Individuals from organizations such as 100 Black Men of America and local chapters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated attended the event. VIP guests Erica Banks and David Bell of the Cleveland Browns, to name a few, were also present for this red-carpet experience.

To go more in-depth, “Finding Tony” is a film about Tony Greene, a former NBA star who is a clinically depressed alcoholic looking back at a moment that changed his life. Eighteen years ago, he lost the love of his life in a home invasion, a tragedy that will impact him forever. He fell into a state of depression and subsequently retired from the NBA. Dr. Terrence Daniel (Tony’s best friend) tries to help Tony turn his life around and convinces him to coach the Lincoln Community College women’s basketball team. On the first day of tryouts, Tony meets Destiny, a seventeen-year-old orphan with a bad attitude and a remarkable jump shot. Their personalities clash, but Tony sees the potential in Destiny. This sparks a new path for him as Destiny learns to break down her walls and instill hope in Tony Greene’s new calling.
