5th Annual National Urban League “Women in Harmony” Awards Luncheon

The National Urban League is a civil rights organization dedicated to social justice, economic empowerment, and equality since 1910. They hosted their 5th annual “Women in Harmony” Awards Luncheon on July 6 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in New Orleans. This year’s theme was a celebration of unity, purpose and courage. The event was held during Essence Festival weekend, where it paid tribute to Black women who led, created, and transformed the community. Judge Faith JenkinsTracey EdmondsLisa Price, and Bevy Smith were the honorees who received recognition. The star-studded red carpet event featured appearances from Jenifer Lewis, Dr. Karri Turner, and Laterras Whitfield.

The “Women in Harmony Luncheon” presenters were Dr. Karri Turner and Laterras Whitfield. Some featured music performances included Kenny Lattimore, R&B singer Carl Thomas, gospel star Koryn Hawthorne, and The NFL Players Choir. A new feature of this annual event was the Self Care Lounge, which featured makeup consultations from Danessa Myricks Beauty, premium lash applications by TheLouLuCollection, aspirational journals, and books from Dream Bigger Now TODAY.

As the luncheon wrapped up, Jenifer Lewis had a touching moment, recounting her accident in 2022, her recovery experience, and her renewed passion and empowerment toward herself and her community. Other appearances for the annual event were  Beverly Bond/Black Girls Rock! CEO, U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, Raheem DeVaughn, Aldis Hodge, Tamika Mallory, Reesa Teesa, Pretty Vee, Teedra Moses, Council Member Helena Moreno, Hon. Dana M. Douglas, United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. This year’s sponsors consisted of Experian, McDonald’s, HCA Healthcare, and Amazon
