Tell us your story about how you went from a lack of confidence to a self-confident businesswoman; what are some hard truths you had to realize to break free from your negative state of mind?

Growing up, I was taught that much is expected of those given. I began my career as a teacher and then as a middle school youth minister. I knew I was called to help others, but I wanted more. In early 2000, I was recruited by a national educational company and became very successful. I quickly rose and was promoted six times in 9 years. The company believed in the importance of growing from within and prioritizing cross-training their executives to master all aspects of business development and operations. During my tenure with the company, I represented them on Capitol Hill, advocating for funding for educational programming and services for students from struggling schools. I also spoke to parent groups and at academic conferences.

Throughout my corporate career, I continued to climb the ladder and found that many women would tell me they wished they were as confident as I was. I achieved a lot in my life, yet I lacked the confidence many assumed I had. I finally realized that I had been operating from a place of fear and self-doubt. I was so focused on what other people thought of me that I lost sight of who I was and what I wanted to do.

After being laid off during the pandemic, I realized I was uniquely positioned to help other brilliant women realize their dreams. This is where it all began for me.

What was your writing strategy when creating the book Confident You, and what chapters will benefit your readers the most?

My book is an extension of my commitment to supporting women on their entrepreneurial journey and an opportunity to practice what I preach.

My book shares the story of individuals who have significantly impacted my life. Every chapter is based on the habits I learned from these amazing women (and one man) who influenced me and helped me create the habits that gave me confidence. It is hard to pick one chapter because it would be like picking my favorite person among many phenomenal people. The way the book is laid out allows you to read each chapter independently or in order. My key strategy was to share with readers the habits they can adopt to become confident.

Explain your holistic practices when people participate in 1:1 Coaching, Confident You Mastermind, and The Confident You CEO Retreat.

As a Business and Life Strategy coach, my work revolves around empowering brilliant women who impact the world yet struggle to create a successful business. I strongly encourage my clients to challenge their beliefs and adopt new perspectives to unlock their full potential.

One of the disruptive aspects of my coaching is my use of the Tiny Habits framework. By breaking down my clients’ goals into small, manageable steps, I help them adopt positive changes and create lasting habits, offering an approach that stands out from conventional coaching methods.

My services are more than one-size-fits-all. I help clients run their businesses and integrate their values into creating businesses they love. I stress that change starts within themselves, not just by adopting new systems, software, and business practices. It’s about aligning the business’s performance and activities with its vision and goals. This personalized, holistic approach is tailored to each individual and their unique needs.

I take pride in offering fresh insights that provide a unique perspective to my coaching practice. This approach allows me to challenge traditional thinking and decision-making processes, leading to innovative solutions and strategies.

Another aspect that sets my coaching apart is the rapid success my clients experience. Within a short period, they undergo significant transformations and achieve tangible results, showcasing the effectiveness of my methods.

My coaching doesn’t only focus on professional growth; it extends to personal development as well. I am passionate about helping my clients find success and freedom, fostering fulfillment in their businesses and lives.

By working with women making a difference in the world, my coaching has a broader impact, reaching various industries and causes. I am proud to be a disruptive force in empowering women and promoting positive change on a larger scale.

Share with us your experience hosting a TEDx talk, your overall message, and tips on building self-confidence through tiny habits.

A TEDx talk has always been among my dreams, and I feel so fortunate to have been one of the speakers at the TEDxMellenStreet Event in 2023. MyTEDx talk centers on How Habits Give Us Confidence to Dance in Life. My talk is based on a quote by Verna Myers, a leading diversity and inclusion expert who says,

“Diversity is being invited to the party. Inclusion is being asked to dance.” My main idea is that even when many of us are invited to the “party” and the “dance floor,” we must be confident to join in.

Confidence is not a feeling; instead, it is what we gain when we see the evidence that we have shown up and done the scary thing despite our lack of skills and confidence. Habits create confidence. When we are consistent with our habits and routines, we build evidence that we are successful, reinforcing our confidence.

Throughout my adolescence, I struggled with feelings that I could not, and would not, ever belong before intentionally seeking to uplevel my confidence. I talk about feelings of being “too much” or “too little” for certain groups of people, struggling to find somewhere I belonged, a theme that will resonate with so many people. I wanted to take the audience members on my own personal journey.

How did the Casa De Confidence Podcast and Confident You radio show start? What are the distinctions that set both shows apart, all while benefiting your listeners?

I have always wanted to start a podcast, but while in corporate America, this dream was always on the back burner. Mainly, I was intimidated by the tech and, of course, by the impostor syndrome I felt.

I was laid off when the pandemic started, and I threw myself into starting my new venture as an entrepreneur. My sweet husband was incredibly supportive and was by my side in those early days in March.

As I built my business, I was preparing for my milestone birthday party in April 2020. Little did I know the lockdown would extend far beyond that date. Sensing my disappointment, my husband surprised me with podcasting equipment as an early birthday gift. He knew I had always talked about starting a podcast, and he was determined to make it happen. He said, ‘You do the talking, and I’ll handle the tech.’ Today, he continues to produce my show and even co-hosts the show’s first segment with me.

This was the beginning of a beautiful journey. We named the show Casa De Confidence because we had always combined our last names (Collins and DeLucca) to call our home Casa DeCollins. My business name is Go Confidently Services, so I wanted to share the stories of individuals who reach their dreams confidently. It is a home where we can share our stories, triumphs, and disappointments. I wanted our guests to feel at home and the listeners to also be welcomed to the party to hear the stories that can inspire them. What better place than our home, Casa De Confidence?

The Radio show began in 2022 while I researched my next book, Purposeful You! I am still writing the book, but I was taken aback by how many people I met who had found their purpose in this life and are now living in their purpose and helping others gain the confidence to live in theirs. This is the origin story of my shows.

Are there any plans to create other services or events to support women in their self-confidence and business journeys?

Dan and I have created a Podcast Production company to help women who may be overwhelmed by tech but have an important message to share with the world. We have over 18 shows we are helping to produce and release. We aim to be a boutique podcast production company for women in midlife on a mission to impact the world. In this adventure, we continue to utilize our gifts, Dan doing the tech and me helping our clients with the right strategy to launch and grow a show that helps them build a business or create an impact with their message.
