Mansa is the latest streaming service to produce and distribute film, television, and now short-form content across a portfolio of platforms. Co-Founders David Oyelowo and Nate Parker recently announced that the summer of 2026 will launch a Micro-Drama slate with 10 original releases. Following their recent success on the Mansa platform, they are expanding their storytelling with new series airing from May through July 2026. The launch will begin with three original titles premiering in May: “Playing the Field,” a female-led flag football romance rivalry; “Love Contract,” a high-stakes contract marriage drama; and “Battle for Center Stage,” a romance rivalry about an HBCU dance team.

Taking a step further from the romance genre, the momentum continues with Mansa’s first wave of vertical series, “The Heiress,” “The Baller & The Secret Society,” and “Baselines.” All these announcements have garnered more than 6.5 million impressions across all platforms in the first 30 days since their announcement. Entertainment consumption has been more about creating short-form episodes that pack a punch and keep audiences wanting more. “Vertical storytelling has already shown us what is possible when you meet audiences in the format they are naturally leaning into,” says Nate Parker. He further states, “This slate is about scaling that insight into a repeatable system. We are building a pipeline where we can consistently develop, finance, produce, and distribute micro-drama series within our own ecosystem.” Micro-Dramas are what audiences can digest and get that dopamine hit of a new series without the stress of long-form shows.

The majority of the original micro-drama series are developed, financed, and produced through Mansa Studios, with plans to license and co-finance 30% of the projects. Through this strategy, Oyelowo and Parker have created a system where they can generate more content to keep viewers engaged with their streaming service. After the slate launch, Mansa will further expand its library of entertainment through strategic partnerships, licensing agreements, and original content. This helps serve more diverse audiences worldwide, from newcomers in the industry and in-house talent. “We are creating a system that allows us to develop and release micro-dramas at scale while staying closely connected to our audience,” says David Oyelowo. All users can access these new series this summer through the Mansa app and website. Through Mansa alone, the company can test and refine content in real time and release at a good pace for newcomers who join the platform, spoon-feeding romance, drama, cinematic, mobile-first narratives, and cultural themes that resonate worldwide.
