She sings a variety of genres, including gospel, contemporary Christian, pop, and R&B. In 2015, Hawthorne was a finalist on The Voice as a member of Pharell Williams’s team and finished in fourth place. She then signed to the label RCA Inspiration under Sony Music and released her debut album, Unstoppable, in 2018. The album, with the lead single “Won’t He Do It,” topped the Billboard Top Gospel Album chart. Hawthorne became the female artist to hold the #1 spot the longest on the chart. Besides recent appearances on WE TV’s Mary Mary, Bounce’s “Saints & Sinners” and OWN’s “GREENLEAF,” Hawthorne appeared on the Emmy-award-winning Tamron Hall Show last week. She opened up about the success of her new album and her experience of ten years in the music industry. When Tamron asked about her experience as a 16-year-old contestant on The Voice, Hawthorne confessed to feeling insecure despite her considerable success. “Accomplishing so much at a young age sets the bar much higher for yourself,” the singer said. “I just try not to psych myself out…but the pressure’s there because you always want to grow and try to be great.”

Hawthorne has proven her success and longevity in the industry. She has matured, and the artist has discovered the importance of trusting in God rather than fretting over the future. “As long as I’m following the path God has set for me, I’m good,” she affirmed. “As long as I’m following the path God has set for me, I’m good,” she said. “If he is in control, it’s going to work out.” She hopes to keep inspiring others with songs about her faith journey and continue building confidence in her music and songwriting.
