Laterras R. Whitfield is officially getting married in Dallas, TX, this November. He’s the host of the highly rated and celebrated podcast, “Dear Future Wifey”, which covers the complexities of relationships and individual lives. Whitfield announced the surprise engagement on July 13, 2025, at the California Worship Center in Los Angeles. It’s a soul-serving ministry run by Warryn S. and Erica Campbell. The engagement’s location was specifically chosen because Whitfield met his wife there.

“I’ve always believed I’d marry my best friend, and now that dream is our reality,” Whitfield said. “From the moment I first saw her, my heart recognized home. So, it was only right to propose in the very place our story began, where love first locked eyes with destiny.”

The “Dear Future Wifey” podcast was created in 2020 as a way to reflect upon and remedy Whitfield’s past relationships and sense of self. Each episode delved into new perspectives and powerful insights to fuel his main mission: love.  In 2023, the “Healing from Heartbreak” episode chronicled Whitfield’s painful breakup with what was thought to be a soulmate. The podcast’s main mission never faltered, and he continued on a path toward a happy marriage.

“I’ve always wanted to be married, not just for companionship, but to reflect the covenant love God designed,” Whitfield said. “That’s why I launched the Dear Future Wifey podcast to restore faith in love, to normalize commitment, and to heal the wounds that keep us from healthy unions,”.

The engagement consisted of an intimate gathering of the couple’s 30 family members and friends. Bizzie Bee Creations provided the event’s decorations. They included an 8 ft heart arch with hundreds of flowers and a rose-petal red carpet. Grammy-nominated singer Kenny Lattimore performed a heartfelt serenade called “So Marry Me”. It was written by Whitfield, along with 2x BMI Christian Song Award winner Michael Bethany and 5x Grammy winner Warryn S. Campbell II

The engagement ring itself provided an encompassing allure to the event. The 7.5-carat total weight ring includes a set of 31 rubies and a 4-carat cushion queen cut center stone. The ring’s greater meaning beyond the “W” for Whitfield has a scripture inscription of Genesis 2:23.

Many milestones took effect this year, with the podcast’s fifth anniversary in April and the launch of season 10 in May. Whitfield’s engagement stands out among the rest as a life-changing moment beyond the podcast.

Whitfield feels compelled to take this powerful leap for not just love, but as a testament to Black Culture and legacy. He chose to keep his fiancée’s identity private to preserve honor and intimacy. The wedding will not just reveal who the lucky bride is, but cement a true journey of love for all to see.
