The Coconut Grove Art Festival will be held February 19-21, 2022 at 2700 S. Bayshore Drive, in Miami. Mediums include digital art, clay work, glass, jewelry, painting, photography, printmaking, and more. Artists showcased this year will include painter, Edwin Lester of Delaware, photographer, Clifton Henri of Chicago, and 3-D fashion artist, Alejandra Avila of Dallas.
President of Coconut Grove Art Festival, Monty Trainer, has seen the growth of the annual event since the mid-seventies. He began as a sponsor when he noticed the festival nearby his restaurant, Monty’s. “I would walk into the groves and watch the setup. I really developed a passion for the artists and what they had to go through. The artists are the backbone, of course, of the festival,” said Trainer. He then became a board member and chairman before becoming president for the last twelve years.
This year, the focus is to elevate, not expand the festival. The artist coordinator, Camille Marchese, ensures that the artists who are part of the show display only high-caliber art for Festival Goers. “Artists that have been part of the show have found tremendous success,” said Marchese. “They like the interaction of being in the crowds. They get inspired. There are a lot of artists who have been in our show that have gone on to do great things.”
