Soulful songstress Y’Anna Crawley has released her highly anticipated EP, This Is Me, under her independent label Sassy Soulstress Music. Each song has a specialty to it that embodies the essence of Y’Anna. She was the Season II Winner of BET’s Sunday Best in 2009, which jump-started her career. Her time over this past year has been dedicated to promoting her Memoir, PIECES OF ME, PIECED TOGETHER BY YOU, and her handmade Body Butta

“I have been making music since I was a little girl. Writing and coming up with Melodie’s has always been in me. However, I officially recorded my first song in the studio when I was 16,” said Crawley. “I grew up in a musically inclined family. Rev Julius Cheeks, who sang gospel, was my Uncle. Glenn Jones, an R&B singer, married my Aunt Genobia Jeter-Jones.

They helped cultivate my gift, and it went on from there. My foot was established fully when I tried out for Sunday Best Season 2 and won! From there, I could reach a National and International level of success in the music industry,” said Crawley of her start in the music industry.

Y’Anna’s music is inspired by her life, so it’s only natural that she released her life’s memoir as well. “I wanted to tell my life’s story in hopes to inspire, encourage and uplift someone. I always wanted to release some of my gifts for freedom. Writing has always been an outlet for me so I figured why not write about my journey in life.”

This is Me is Crawley’s personal memoir in song form. Her goal is to only release music from her heart’s position that gives a personal part of herself to the listener through music and lyrics. The song is set to be a three-part EP series. It’ll allow the listener to hear every facet of Crawley’s inner-self. Crawley said, “I believe This is Me is different because I had creative control over the project. I could dive in fully with this one.”

The EP is available today wherever music is sold and streamed. “This Is Me” arrives during a time of reflecting on the trying year and preparing for a new one. The six-track EP is Crawley’s latest and most vulnerable body of work to date. In only 24 minutes of sitting with Crawley’s music, a story is told through melodies and lyrics. “It’s expressions and creativity! I love all the gifts God has given me!”
