Meet Clive Brewer, Arizona’s Greatest High-Performance Sports Expert

A highly recognized and acclaimed expert in athletic development, High-Performance Sports Conditioning, and applied sports, Clive Brewer has had an impressive career. After years of traveling around the globe and working with pro sports teams and Olympic athletes. In fact, in 2020, while serving as the Performance Director for Columbus Crew SC, Brewer used his guidance and expertise to secure the national MLS championship. 

Over the course of his 20-year career, Brewer built his repertoire by honing his multi-sport expertise, working with athletes and teams in the following fields: 

  •  Baseball (5 years in the MLB)
  •  Soccer (associated with the EPL and MLS)
  • Tennis (20 years advising the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament), 
  • Olympic sports (advising and supporting athletes through every Game since 2000, including USA’s Galen Rupp).

Brewer’s expansive portfolio and diverse experience have gotten him noticed by professional sports teams and athletes, allowing him to work at Olympic Training Sites, NCAA programs, and even Cirque de Soleil. In fact, every professional team Clive has trained has achieved playoff success or even national championship wins during the years he was assisting them. 

While his achievements and illustrious career, his experience training young athletes, like Jack Treasure, further highlights his abilities and passion and certainly showcased Brewer’s talent and acclaim. When Clive began working with Jack, son of world-renowned mental-performance coach Darren Treasure, “ he was squatting 130 pounds with poor technique.” However, after working with Brewer for only four weeks, he is “squatting 285 pounds.” “Clive is a magician,” says Jack.

As OrthoArizona’s Director of Athletic Performance, Clive Brewer gets to utilize his multi-sport expertise to assist professional athletes with training, injury prevention, and rehabilitation. After moving to Scottsdale, Brewer began training top competitors in their sports, like pro golfer Cristi Kerr and Rachel Zilinskas, an Ironman triathlete.
