Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Black Entertainment Television Awards (BET) is an award show dedicated to recognizing and celebrating black talent. Established in 2001, the BET Awards was started by the Black Entertainment Television network to honor black entertainers in the music and film industries. Dressed up by some of the fashion industry’s leading designers, those who walked this year’s pink carpet oozed with style and glamour.
The award show’s pink carpet this year showcased celebrities wearing the trendiest styles. Walking the carpet this year, Ice Spice, Coco Jones, Doechii, PinkPantheress, and Flo Milli arrived in some of the hottest outfits. Nominated for prestigious awards, these talented and beautiful women won the approval of fashion critics nationwide. These outfits both exercised the artist’s self-expression while celebrating individuality and creativity.
- Ice Spice
Arriving in style with 4 nominations, break-out artist Ice Spice arrived at the 2023 BET Awards in a stunning sheer black lingerie set by Dolce & Gabbana. This black bustier garment flaunted the rapper’s figure. The sexy black set was styled underneath a fitted black bustier. She paired this see-through ensemble with black heels and a dazzling diamond-encrusted cross necklace.
2. Coco Jones
Nominated for 3 awards this year, singer and actress Coco Jones walked the pink carpet in a red LaQuan Smith dress. This off-the-shoulder dress showed off Jones’ body with a large cut-out across the abdomen area. Jones’ paired the bell-sleeved, red sequined dress with strappy red and pink high-heels. This fiery gown is from LaQuan Smith’s 2023 spring collection. She styled her hair in a classic bun with strands framing her face.
3. PinkPantheress
Nominated for both Best Collaboration and the BET Her Award, the “Boy’s A Liar Pt.2” singer walked the pink carpet wearing a Christian Dior cheetah print dress. Pinkpantheress paired this statement piece with denim knee-high boots. This sleeveless dress is styled with a small black purse. Pinkpantheress’s Y2K vibe is completed with a dainty bracelet and several rings.
4. Doechii
Known for her striking and diverse sense of style, Doechii arrived at the 2023 BET Awards in a trendy pink outfit. The rapper walked the carpet in a low-cut pink halter top with low-rise jeans. Doechii coupled these dark-wash flare jeans with pointy pink pumps. Accessorizing to match her pink aesthetic, Doechii wore a spiky pink choker from Fancì Club. The “What It Is” singer showed off her new pixie haircut and wore oversized sunglasses with pink accents.
5. Flo Milli
The “Conceited” rapper attended the Los Angeles award show wearing a fiery Salvatore Ferragamo dress. This bodycon dress is from Ferragamo’s 2023 Spring Collection. Styled with chunky gold Gianvito Rossi sandals, the rapper topped off the outfit with a slicked-back ponytail and hoop earrings. This dress has short sleeves that show off the rose tattoo on her forearm.
With 40 performances this year, the BET Awards featured some of the top-charting artists worldwide. The BET pink carpet gave guests the opportunity to express their style and answer questions from interviewers. With a variety of styles and designers, this year’s pink carpet was nothing short of memorable. Celebrating 50 years of hip-hop this year, the award show paid tribute to the late rapper Takeoff and icon Tina Turner. Dedicated to recognizing and remembering black talent, the BET Awards have long championed the movement for representation and diversity in the entertainment industry.
