China Shadae brings the Summer with her new EP release, “Note To Self.” Now she turns up the heat with the new single “Burn.” She is an R&B artist whose TikTok and Instagram influence has brought her over 400k views. Her performance at the Revolt Summer in Atlanta was an event to remember. In addition to being a singer on the rise, she is a model who debuted at The Eugene Taylor Brand (Self Hood) Fashion Show, located at the WNDR Museum in Chicago.

When listening to “Burn,” the song talks about her and her secret lover in a hot situation. She compares the fire within their love to “a spark igniting her flame.” Shadae’s sultry voice compliments the steamy lyrics and can ignite the passion within listeners.

Shadae shows us why she wanted to become a singer, the start of her modeling career, her discovery as a fashion and music artist, her R&B style, and more.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and what interests and inspirations led you to become a singer.

Hi, I’m China Shadae. I grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago. I was introduced to music early because I come from a musical background. I loved listening to my mother sing in church, and I did the same as most artists and began singing in the choir. As I got older, my love for music became stronger and stronger, and that’s where my pursuit began.

When did you start your modeling career?

I started modeling when I was about 12/13 years old. I was a part of various modeling agencies and did a lot of print work and background/extras for TV shows.

How did you get discovered for your fashion and singing talents?

Growing up, my mother always had my siblings and me as part of different modeling agencies, so we constantly went on all types of auditions. That experience led me to mature in the modeling industry, leading me to the opportunities I’ve received thus far.

Again, my mother is a musical talent herself. So it’s safe to say that I got it honest. I grew up listening to her bless a room full of people with her voice, and I knew then that I wanted to do the same.

Why did you choose R&B as your ideal genre of music?

I’d like to think that R&B chose me. I feel that I have a voice that can cater to all types of genres, and I like to experiment with all of them. However, there’s something about R&B that challenges my voice in a way like no other. I’m changing the narrative of people thinking that R&B is dead because I am very much alive.

What was your experience like modeling for The Eugene Taylor Brand (Self Hood) Fashion Show?

The experience was nothing short of amazing! That show was probably the most fun I’ve had in modeling. The setting was very professional and welcoming, and the concept was very original. I was able to meet and network with so many talented people, and it was a pleasure to work with each and every one of them!

What did you enjoy about creating this new single, and what can we expect for the future?

“Burn” was super fun to create because we were able to have fun with the wordplay, using words that pertained to the meaning of something burning while connecting them to a sexual feeling and meaning. Expect more hit songs, performances, and dope visuals.

Besides her new single, Shadae will release a music video for her song “Secret Love.” Listen to China Shadae’s “Burn” on Spotify. Follow her on Instagram or TikTok for updates on new music and other announcements and collaborations.
