Cult British style magazine, THE FACE has revealed its latest issue featuring Little Mermaid Star Halle Bailey gracing the cover. The magazine sees soon-to-be Disney sensation Halle Bailey deep dive into The Little Mermaid spirit revealing what’s in store for 2023. She is photographed in Los Angeles by Brianna Capozzi and styled by Face Fashion Director Danny Reed in a custom Diesel tail. The magazine also features garments from the Matty Bovan x Dolce & Gabbana collaboration, a seaweed-esque Alaïa coat, along with looks from Burberry and a custom crown by Scarlett Harlow.

On the power of performance as an outlet, Halle says “I just want to continue to heal through my art. Each project I’ve done has taught me something about myself, has given me something to live off,”. The star is set for her busiest year yet, with the release of The Little Mermaid and the hotly anticipated The Color Purple remake. She is also working towards releasing her first solo album. “The music I’m making now is happy and about love, but it’s also about vulnerability and how scared you can be when you know that somebody now has power over your heart.”

Halle, in a conversation with Face Features Editor Olive Pometsey, discusses her delight at being cast in the live-action remake of the Little Mermaid, “It was really cool for them to make Ariel a version of me with my locs. I feel like that’s what mermaid hair would be anyway.” She experienced backlash from people online but there is an importance of diverse representation in art, “People don’t understand that when you’re Black there’s this whole other community. It’s so important for us to see ourselves.”

The new THE FACE issue also features the first photo shoot with House of Dragon heartthrob and fan favorite Ewan Mitchell. He discusses the allure of staying mysterious, how he avoids Matt Smith on set, and answers some Redditors burning questions. Other features include an interview with RXK Nephew, ‘America’s weirdest rapper’, the rise of the ‘White-van Women’, along with an exploration of Iranian craftsmanship through inherited and present-day identities. fashion editorials include a spotlight on early Vivienne Westwood collections through a conversation with Steven Phillip. They also include ‘Destruction of the grotto’ – a handbag feature with real-life attack dogs and bite protection suits. Issue 014 has been available to buy since the 23rd of February.
