The Sunset clubhouse at EDITION was bumping Saturday, November 5th as musical phenomenon Janet Jackson joined DJ D-NICE behind the booth. During D-Nice‘s impromptu set of over nine thousand guests, Jackson made a surprise appearance behind the DJ booth, in full anticipation to rock the house. Renowned R&B songwriter and producer Jimmy Jam didn’t shy from joining in on the jamathon. Jimmy Jam, held his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame trophy following his and Terry Lewis’s introduction delivered by Janet Jackson over the weekend.
Minneapolis Natives Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were thick as thieves dating back to the good ole high school days. In a decision to take on the world side by side, the two formed alliance and soon found themselves making their big breakthrough into rising stardom performing iconic stage magic as band members of music icon Prince. From iconic stage magic with musical icons to independent studio magic of smooth, funky synth-laden grooves, the two marked history in the category of ‘musical excellence’ appointed by the rock & roll hall of fame.
Under the creative direction of Studio 54 co-founder, Ian Schrager, and in the spirit of the dozens of iconic clubs that dotted the sunset strip in the ’60s and ’70s, the modern clubhouse, Sunset; built beneath the west Hollywood EDITION, maintained its devotion to dedicating the club to great music. Designed for multiple experiences, the destination offers a cocktail bar and lounge, a private room that invokes the feeling of a speakeasy, and LA’s most raucous dance floor beneath 400 disco balls.
Living it up, Sunset continued to dish out great music as guests and icons partied like rockstars beneath the waves of neon lights. DJ D-Nice spun some of Janet Jackson’s own hits produced by the award-winning duo. The triangle of paragons bumped to the beats of the Jackson classics. Janet looking particularly pleased stood back and let the magic unfold in this blast from the past jamboree. Here at ENSPIRE, we celebrate the empowerment of black excellence. Special congratulations to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis on making the Rock & Roll hall of fame. Keep paving the way on the road to excellence!
