Since 1985, French Toast has been creating the best possible school wear accessible to everyone. As a uniform provider, a myriad of schools nationwide trusts them. Working directly with manufacturing partners in every step, French Toast believes in providing more value without sacrificing quality.

By July 25th, 2022, French Toast is launching new school uniforms for students with disabilities. Working closely with the community, a new collection was born known as French Toast Adaptive. Meeting the needs of those with disabilities, Stephen Ashear the president of French Toast hopes that the children “feel comfortable and confident when they go to school and have as much independence as possible to get dressed on their own.”

Starting in 2019, the idea for “Schoolwear For All” has been in the making for four years. Throughout the years, French Toast has been working tremendously to “create an authentic adaptive schoolwear collection that will have a positive impact on the lives of thousands of students across the country.” Even now, focus groups and testing are continued through 2022, until the collection becomes available for back-to-school 2022. French Toast, also partnered with GAMUT Management to have a more profound understanding of children with disabilities and the needs of their caregivers. Starting from education and training, French Toast and GAMUT Management held panel discussions, focus groups, and fit testing with children with disabilities and caregivers. GAMUT’s Founder and CEO Mindy Scheier says that “the collection is empowering for students with disabilities. It’s important for brands to work closely with people with disabilities in creating new collections. French Toast has really put in the work and resources necessary for the new adaptive line and we’re proud to have played an integral role.”

The French Toast Adaptive is made up of 12 dress-code-ready tops and bottoms. This includes polos, woven shirts, shorts, pants, skorts, dresses, and activewear. The key adaptive features of this collection are the EZ-closure Hook+ Loop on the lower leg closures and replacing zippers and buttons for effortless dressing. The uniforms have flat seams details and Label-Free Comfort that won’t chafe or aggravate the skin, High Rise for extra coverage, and Lift Loops™ to smoothly pull clothes off and on. French Toast Adaptive has the comfort and quality of the French Toast core collection with their Stretch Fabric, Power Knees®, Hidden Comfort Shorts, Wrinkle No More™, Expandable Collars, and Adjustable Waists. Prices are still at the “same across the board” because to French Toast “the most important thing for us is to be inclusive and do the right thing.”

The French Toast Adaptive will be available online at a multitude of websites like French Toast, Amazon, JCPenney, and Zappos. More information about French Toast can be found here.
